Ukrainian liner caught fire before crashing southeast of Tehran, Iranian investigators said in an initial report.
All 176 people on board died.
Boeing 737-800, belonging to Ukraine International Airlines, crashed shortly after taking off from Tehran airport named after Imam Khomenei. Most of the passengers on the plane flying to Kiev were citizens of Iran and Canada.
The Iranian Civil Aviation Organization’s report contains testimony from witnesses on the ground and on a plane flying by at high altitude who reported that the plane was on fire while in flight.
