Ophthalmologists: conjunctivitis may be a symptom of coronavirus

The American Academy of Ophthalmology asks professionals to pay attention to this when treating patients

The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) warns that a common eye condition, conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye, could be a symptom of COVID-19.

The AAO recommends that ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals who treat patients with eye conditions take extra precautions, as some cases of coronavirus also exhibit pink eye symptoms.

The Journal of Medical Virology says researchers have found coronavirus in tears in some patients who also developed conjunctivitis.
