On Tuesday, the leader of the Belarusian opposition met with the President of France
The leader of the Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya will visit Berlin on October 5-6, her press secretary Anna Krasulina told Reuters.
According to Krasulina, a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel is possible, but has not yet been confirmed.
On Tuesday Tihanovskaya met in Vilnius with French President Emmanuel Macron. She stated that Macron promised to help organize negotiations with the Belarusian authorities and release political prisoners.
The French side did not comment on the meeting.
Tikhanovskaya claims she won the presidential elections in Belarus, defeating long-term leader Alexander Lukashenko.
Lukashenka was sworn in on September 23 at an unannounced ceremony, which sparked outrage at home and abroad.
